Sunshine Coast Holiday - Day 1

We left straight from work yesterday... well, that was the plan... I actually got home - and we spent about 40mins packing the car.... THEN we were on our way.... except that Rob got two calls... which delayed picking Jade up - and then delayed picking up Blake.....

THEN we were on our way..... although - on our way out of town - another call came in - and Rob had to pull over to try to deal with the problem.... THEN... yup - we were on our way... no more calls after that!!

So, it was about 220 before we were really on our way... luckily it was only 440km... so it wasn't too bad... we only stopped once... at Matilda Curra.... we went in to grab some food for dinner... and Jade was checking out the sweets (I think it was more about the bright colours of the wrapping rather than the sweets - cause I know she wouldn't eat them....)

So I'm standing there - saying "come on Jade, do you want a fruit salad?" and I hear this "Yes Jade, listen to your mother" and I thought "oh - someone's heard me say her name....." then I turned around and saw Aunty Lyn.... so that was a nice surprise - I knew she worked at one of those places - but I wasn't sure which one... well now I know :)

We eventually arrived at the hotel at 7:45pm.... and found our room.... SOOOOOOOOOOOO NICE!!!

All set up now, this is where I'm currently sitting.... wont be soon though... Rob's going to set up wireless so that we can just use the wireless on the laptops... Yay!!!!

this kitchen puts mine to shame.....

Smack arrives at 11:50 - and the airport is about 10mins away... Rob's going to stay at the hotel and get Blake lunched and off to sleep - and Jade's still undecided about whether she wants to come with me - or stay here with Rob......

Tooth #9 and Tooth #10

I forgot to update.... Blake got Tooth #9 on Monday 9th (top left molar) - and tooth #10 Tuesday 17th (top right molar)..... - - - so I'm getting about a week off between teeth at the moment.... at this rate he'll have them all before xmas! :)

Jade's 4 year needles.......

I took Jade for her 4yr needles today... I was really nervous about this as it doesn't seem to take much to upset Jade.... but she surprised everyone.... she was excited about her needles - and that didnt' change when it came to needle time.... she watched the Dr put the needle in her arm... she didn't flinch she didn't cry or even let an "ouch" fly.... nothing....

We think most of what this is about is that Jade used to watch me giving myself my Clexane needles during the pregnancy with Blake - so needles aren't such a scary concept....

As per all of her other checkups - she's taller and heavier than kids her age - she's out of the charts.... 21kgs and 112cm tall..... she's all in proportion - so being heavier doesn't mean that she's overweight in any way shape or form..... she's just probably closer to where she should be at 6 or so.... (and given she wears size 6 pants and size 6-7 girls shirts..... it's a fairly good indication) I guess school uniforms aren't going to be too big for her....

Rob found out today that he's been discharged from his Bankruptcy... so yay!!! Just wish we'd sorted it all 5yrs earlier... but at least it's over now....

I got him a cake... he wanted a black forest cake... so I got him Banana... :)

One year needles!

Blake had his first year needles today.... and he was so good... he didn't react at all to the first needle - the next two were the ones that upset him - but it didn't last long......

Measurements:

Weight - 10.78kg

Height - 79cm

Head - 37.5cm

(above average for all measurements - and all in proportion - so Yay Blake!!)+

Jade at her 12month checkup:

Weight - 12.17kg

Height - 82.5cm

Head - 38cm

(Jade was always over the scale, for everything.... )

Rocky Trials Club Breakup - 2009 - Kroombit Lochenbar Station - Day 3

straight back into the caravan again......

(and pressing every button he could find)

Then it was time to help Uncle Frank hook his trailer up to the car....

As soon as Jade got up - she got straight back into her Christmas Fairy outfit, there was no convincing otherwise....

Bruised knee - and half shin.....

(the pink circle in the middle of the bruise is the point of impact.... it's still really tender - so I assume it's still got some work to do before it settles down and the real damage is seen)

The arm... it looks worse than it feels... and above the graze is another bruise coming out - but it's nothing in comparison to the knee....

Rocky Trials Club Breakup - 2009 - Kroombit Lochenbar Station - Day 2

Day started at 5:30am.... so about normal... all good :)

straight back to climbing in and out of the caravan....

Jade loved him, he was so tame... Jade got to pat him...

Before it was time to go off and ride - it was pool time....

At 2pm we went off to start the trials comp.... the aim was to complete two laps on the first day - then three on the second...

Rob and I rode together.. apart from the usual muck-ups (stalling due to lack of clutch control - etc) I was reasonably happy with how I was riding.... we did 5 out of the first 7 sections - but there was a queue for sections 6 and 7 - so we decided to go and ride the first five sections again and hope that 6 and 7 had cleared by the time we got back...

I stuffed up section 1 - got caught on a rock and the bike died....

Section 2 - I got in there... was riding really well - cleared the first half of the section - and ended up going over an A-Grade Rock (which I was quite proud of my efforts) - unfortunately - as I landed I came down faster than I thought - and my wrist slipped on the accelerator - and the bike took off... I managed to avoid most of the rocks on the way out of the section - I was determined to get out of the section without dropping another 5.. (which - technically I did....)

Unfortunately, on exiting the section - I broke a rock with my left knee and came crashing down... at first I wasn't sure what damage i'd done... I went into a short-term shock holding my knee and not willing to check - as I was sure that i'd ripped the knee open....

I think I had Rob more scared than I was (and I was terrified)... I eventually worked up the courage to sit down, get my boot off and get my pants up to the point where I could see my knee... no blood.... just a HUGE bruise..... HUGE!!! (and it's getting bigger by the day)

I also managed to take skin off my left arm - it looks bad - but it doesn't feel anywhere near as bad as my knee does....

Mom, the kids and I headed back to camp and I got in the pool with Jade... that was the best thing I could have done.....

After we swam, it was time to get ready for the Breakup Xmas Party......

(This is a guy that Rob ran into in Townsville one day while working at one of his client's sites - he invited him down for the weekend - and Andrew already knew of Angela Sophios - so he was able to get all the details to attend)

Santa arrived...

Santa walked in - and Jade pipes up straight away "YOU AREN'T SANTA!!!!!"

everyone thought it was so funny... luckily because she's pretty much the youngest one there - it didn't ruin it for anyone....

she was happy enough to put aside the "you aren't santa" theory to accept a present from Santa....

We ended up telling Jade that Rob was one of Santa's helpers - so she was ok with that too...

everyone got to have a sit on Santa's lap...

even Angela....

the beard didn't want to stay on... so Angela held it in place...

Frank (a little roasty toasty) didn't mind hugging up to his brother in law....

Once Santa left, Jade decided she was tired and went to sleep in the back of the Prado.... Blake slept for about an hour in the pram then he was awake... so once they'd finished all of the presentations - we took the kids off to bed (we missed out on seeing the DVD - but we can watch that later - apparently Rob and Greg made it on there a few times).....

Rocky Trials Club Breakup - 2009 - Kroombit Lochenbar Station - Day 1

The Trials club again held their year end break-up at Kroombit although the way people have spoken about it, it may have been the last... it's been three years since we were there last (Jade was the same age Blake is now... well - plus a month)....

Instead of heading up Saturday morning, we decided to head up and spend Friday night as well... We left at 1pm once I'd finished work, so again, Jade got picked up early from daycare... she loves being picked up during rest time....

Blake has decided that it's more fun than anything else to climb EVERYTHING in sight....

Jade went with Grandpa to see the horses....

Blake played with toys with Daddy...

and then realised that toys aren't as much fun as climbing into and out of the caravan....

It did come with a couple of unfortunate spills down the stairs... but all in all - he was an expert by the end of the weekend....

We had a good first night - Blake only woke once - and I turned his projector on and he went straight back to sleep... Yay!!!!
